Chemistry First Semester Theory

 

The following topics will be considered CORE:

 

  1. Basic concepts of Chemistry 
  2. Atoms, Molecules & Ions
  3. Chemical Reactions
  4. Stochiometry
  5. Energy and Chemical Reactions
  6. Structure of Atoms
  7. Structure of Atoms & Periodic Trends
  8. Bonding & Molecular Structure
  9. Orbitals & Theories of Chemical Bonding
  10. Gases
  11. Intermolecular Forces & Liquids

 

The following topics will be considered OPTIONAL:

 

  1. Solutions & their Behaviour
  2. Nuclear Chemistry

Chemistry First Semester Labs

 

The following labs will be considered CORE:

 

  1. Introduction to Lab Work in this course (intro to lab kits & RWSL)
  2. Stochiometry
  3. Measurements & Density
  4. Conductivity
  5. Water Hardness
  6. Structures & Shapes of Molecules
  7. Determination of Iron in Water
  8. Gas Laws (Gas Properties OR Molar Volume of a Gas)

 

The following labs will be considered OPTIONAL:

 

  1. Separation of Components of a Mixture
  2. The Mole Concept
  3. Caloric Content of Food 
  4. Measuring the Spectrum of Gas Samples (Pass's Law?) 
  5. Acetic Acid in Vinegar
  6. Solution Concentration

 

NEW course development
