RWSL Sub-modules

This is the older draft and is now replaced by the new page RWSL Components

One RWSL Node consists of:

1 RWSL Standard module (required) {"RWSL REquired Base Module"}

1 or more labs that can be served to the NANSLO RDN

Each RWSL Lab consists of:

0 or more RWSL Support Sub-modules

1 or more Lab Equipment Sub-modules

Sub-Modules:

Standard Sub-module {Should this be called an "RWSL Base" instead?} contains:

1 Video Streamer
1 Video Mixer
1 PTZ Camera
1 UPS
1 Networked Power Bar
1 Lab Computer
1 National Instruments Software
1 Video Archive Computer
1 Miscellaneous

Estimated Cost: $19,500

Note - All RWSL Nodes require 1 standard sub-module for each lab that will be served simultaneously.

To put a Lab together, choose from the RWSL Support Modules and Lab Equipment Sub-modules contained in the following 2 tables.  These Tables are not exhaustive lists of the sub-modules available; they only consist of the sub-modules that have been incorporated into RWSL to date.  These lists will grow over time.

RWSL Labs Available (or soon to be available) in Colorado:

Air Track

Microscope

(DAN, please fill this list in.  Thanks.)

Examples of a assembled RWSL nodes:

First determine which lab or labs you want to serve from your RWSL node.  (For this example assume the Air Track.)

The RWSL node designed to offer just the Air Track Lab will contain:

1) 1 Standard sub-module {RWSL Base?}

2) Air Track Lab

  1. RWSL Support sub-modules
    1. Velmex Frame
    2. Robotic Arm
    3. 3 additional PTZ cameras
    4. Scale (0.1 g accuracy)
    5. Vernier Data Logger
    6. National Instruments Hardware
  2. Lab Equipment Sub-modules
    1. Air track

The RWSL node designed to offer just the Microscope Lab will contain:

3) 1 Standard sub-module {RWSL Base?}

4) Microscope Lab

  1. RWSL Support sub-modules
    1. none
  2. Lab Equipment Sub-modules
    1. Microscope
    2. Nikon camera
    3. (optional) Slide Autoloader

In both cases additional RWSL labs can be added by adding the appropriate RWSL Support and Lab Equipment sub-modules.  It needs to be emphasized that with only one standard sub-module, only 1 lab can be served at any given time.  To serve an additional lab will require the reconfiguration of the node so that it is ready for the next lab to be served.
