Governance Roles
NANSLO Board
> Set Policies
> Approve procedures
> Approve all hiring based on recommendations from the appropriate position and the finance Committee.
> Budget Approval
> Fee structure Approval
> Approve Agreements with other organizations
> Approve Recommendations from administrative Office
> Approve Recommendations from Discipline Panels
> Approve Recommendations from R&D and Tech Standards Committee
> Approve technology standards
> Approve lab development contracts

NANSLO Board Executive Committee (Is made up of the chair, vice chair, and one or three other members of the NANSLO Board)
> Performs executive functions
> Can make rapid interim decisions that will later be ratified by the NANSLO Board

NANSLO Board Chair (Is a member of the NANSLO Board)
> Chairs all meetings of the NANSLO Board
>
NANSLO Board Vice Chair (Is a member of the NANSLO Board)
> Chairs all meetings of the NANSLO Board that the NANSLO Board Chair cannot chair)
>
Finance Committee (Made up of members of the NANSLO Board and reports to the NANSLO Board)
> Monitor the NANSLO organization financial health
> Advise the NANSLO Board on all financial matters
> Advise the NANSLO Coordinator on all financial matters
> Hire the NANSLO Financial Officer with NANSLO board approval

Administration Roles
NANSLO Coordinator (Reports to NANSLO Board)
> Recommend changes to policies regarding administration
> Recommend procedures to support policies regarding administration
> Implement Approved Policies and Procedures
> Implement Approved Fee structure and Act as the Remote lab service broker
> Negotiate and Recommend Agreements with other organizations
> Implement Approved agreements with other organizations
> Oversee the 'growing' of the NANSLO RDN
> Administer the NANSLO scheduling solution
> Schedule an RWSL Unit to act as the faculty 'sandbox'
> Schedule 1 or more RWSL Units for development based on approved contracts.

Financial Officer (Reports to the Finance Committee)
> Keeps the NANSLO RDN books
> Pays all invoices with NANSLO Board approval
> sends out all invoices
> works with the NANSLO Coordinator to recommend budgets to the NANSLO Board
>
Annual Conference Organizer (Reports to the NANSLO Coordinator) (Self funding position)
> Organizes the annual conference and meeting
>
Remote Lab Services Broker (Reports to the NANSLO Coordinator)
> Acquires and maintains a current database of all remote lab services required by NANSLO participating Institutions
> Acquires and maintains a current database of all remote lab services being offered to the NANSLO RDN
> On the institutional level schedules access to remote lab services as needed
> Reports all lab services supplied to the Financial Officer for payment
> Reports all lab services utilized to the Financial Officer for invoicing

Web and Communications Manager (Reports to the NANSLO Coordinator)
> Maintain the NANSLO Web presence
> Facilitates all internal communications
> Help the Discipline panels maintain the Peer-to-Peer Exchange
>
Other Administrative Support Positions (Report to the NANSLO Coordinator)
(These will be defined and hired as needed with NB approval)
> Performs specific tasks as required by the NANSLO Coordinator.

Academic Roles
Discipline Panels (Report to the NANSLO Board)
> Recommend changes to policies regarding academics
> Recommend procedures to support policies regarding academics
> Recommend Learning outcomes for NANSLO lab exercises
> Recommend changes to existing RWSL labs after receiving technology advice and costing
> Recommend new RWSL labs after receiving technology advice and costing
> Review NANSLO remote lab exercises to determine compliance with NANSLO approved learning outcomes

Curriculum Writer (Reports to a specific Discipline Panel) (Hired for discreet contracts as needed with NB approval)
> Writes Curriculum as required by the Discipline Panel
>
Instructional Designer (Reports to the NANSLO Board)
> Works with Curriculum Writers to make sure all NANSLO curriculum meets accepted Instructional Design requirements
> Makes sure all curriculum produced by NANSLO has the same 'look and feel'
>
Technical Roles
R&D and Technological Standards Committee (Reports to the NANSLO Board)
> Recommend changes to policies regarding technology
> Recommend procedures to support policies regarding technology
> Recommend Technology standards
> Enforce approved technology standards
> Provide technological advice for changes to existing RWSL labs and for proposed new RWSL labs
> Provide costing for changes to existing RWSL labs and for proposed new RWSL labs
>
RWSL Tech and User Support Network (Reports to the R&D and Technology Standards Committee)
> Provide tech level support to other RWSL techs at participating institutions
> Provide User Support for institutions that use NANSLO remote labs
> Works with Scheduling to fix specific scheduling issues 'on the fly'
>
Technical Researcher (Reports to the R&D and Technology Standards Committee)
(Hired for discreet contracts as needed with NB approval)
> Does the research on technological matters when the R&D and Technology Standards committee is required to respond to Discipline panel requests for changed or new RWSL Labs
> Provides costing information to the R&D and Technology Standards Committee as necessary
>
Scheduling Manager (Reports to the R&D and Technology Standards Committee and the NANSLO Coordinator)
> Instals, maintains and manages the Scheduling Solution required for the operation of the NANSLO RDN
> Advises on scheduling solutions and problems
>
